30-Day Challenge (Day12)

MuchMusic hosted a philanthropic holiday pop music extravaganza, The Big Jingle, last night at the ACC with performances from Down With Webster, Fefe Dobson, Mia Martina, Fall Out Boy, Icona Pop, Hedley, Serena Ryder, and Ylvis (with their ridiculous and catchy song, The Fox [What Does The Fox Say]). The place was packed with thousands of people who want nothing more than to spend 5 hours fawning over their favourite pop stars. At the Big Jingle, Christmas was a combination of fries and chicken tenders, singing of thousands of people donning Santa hats, dancing on the sticky floors of the ACC, and endless high-pitched cries of fangirls.


I went to the concert with a buddy of mine, who I was feeling very sorry for by the end of the night. I don’t think he’s ever been to such an estrogen-filled event. Some points of the night was, for a lack of a better word – meh, like when Much’s VJs, Scott Willats and Liz Trinnear, made everyone jump, scream, and fail their arms for nearly 10 minutes, all just so it can look good for TV. I pathetically waved my hands and had my mouth hanging opened in response, but I was saving up my energy for the next performers. Then there was the obligatory kiss cam, and I thankfully escaped that too (or it would’ve made it into an extremely awkward night). Ha, take that MuchMusic. 

Nearly every artist played between 3 to 5 songs, but it would have been better to shorten some performers’ sets for others, or have everyone play the same number of songs. The artists that were garnering crazy energy and immense stage presence had the shortest performances, much to the fans’ dismay. Just as everyone started getting into the songs, they departed from the stage. Boo.

Overall it was a fun event. I was on my feet most of the time, singing and dancing for nearly 5 hours. I just felt bad for my friend, who didn’t rock out like I did, but throughly enjoyed the comfy ACC seats. But then again, I’m just crazy. Once the music starts playing, my body just moves on its own.

Back to Day #12. Today is Ass, Thighs, and Legs day. Nearly everything was squats, squats, and more variations of squats. There were also some Jane Fonda-esque exercises in there. My legs and butt were burning by the end, so I suppose I worked hard enough. It wasn’t nearly as bad as Day #7; at least I didn’t lose all feelings in my butt this time. My friend pointed out to me that I should’ve taken a before and after pic. Or at least taken measurements of my body to track my progress. Damn. I don’t ever think about things like this, but I just trust that my body is changing and getting more toned. I have been feeling a lot more energy lately, and find that I don’t need coffees to carry me through the day. Although I never had any intention of losing weight given that I’m already pretty thin, but I have lost about 3lbs since the start of the challenge. So see? Changes. And maybe if I’m bold enough, I might just take a picture.

DAY #12:

Timer is set to 10 seconds rest & 30 seconds work for 66 rounds. The first 10 seconds is a break, followed by 30 seconds skipping, 10 seconds break, and a 30-second round of an exercise (listed below).
